If you’ve spent any time on r/golf asking about vision, you’ve heard the advice. It comes up in every thread. “Never wear bifocals on the course.” “Get single-vision distance and carry clip-on readers.” “Just take your glasses off to read the scorecard.” This advice is technically correct. I’ve been hit by a golf ball before. Not a glancing blow off the shoulder — a full-on, mid-flight drive that caught me just above the cheekbone. I was lucky. The bruise was ugly, but my eye was fine. That moment changed how I think about sunglasses on the course. I used to grab whatever … Read more

I remember the exact moment I decided I needed new sunglasses for golf. It was the tenth hole on a humid July morning. I bent down to pick my ball out of the cup, and my shades slid right off my face and landed in the fringe. I was annoyed, but not surprised. They’d been … Read more

You teed off at 7 AM with perfect sun. By the back nine, clouds rolled in and that same lens that worked so well at sunrise now felt like wearing a blanket over your eyes. You hit a great drive, walk up to your ball, pull out your sunglasses… and they’re covered in sweat or morning dew before you can even line up the putt. It breaks your focus. The frustration of smearing a lens for the tenth time in a row is enough to throw off your entire round. … Read more

If you’re fighting the shanks, you already know it’s partly a mental battle. But here’s what I’ve noticed after too many rounds on sun-blasted fairways: visual distractions amplify the problem. That harsh glare bouncing off the grass or a hazy white sky can mess with your alignment just enough to throw off your tempo. I … Read more

I was on the 12th tee at my home course, a coastal track that’s always exposed. The sun was blinding, and a gust came off the water. My eyes started watering instantly. I blinked, wiped them, and completely lost my focus. That’s when I realized I needed a pair of sunglasses specifically for these conditions. … Read more
